Let Hardcore Gamers Pass the Puck at Xbox NHL 10

You're a fierce Xbox NHL 10 gamer who sends his opponents to the cooler every time.} You're a hardcore player who likes the thrill of sports video game battles. You can battle it out with the cream of the crop, so it's time to demonstrate to the video game world that in Xbox NHL 10, you are unbreakable. Come on down to the coliseum where hardcore players take each other on by playing sports video games for money. Wagering each other in sports video games for cash -- these players aren't screwing around.

To really prove your dominance in the video game world, winning game after game - and your rival's money - is a sure-fire route to prove that you are the man!} Not that playing Xbox sports video games isn't great… but when you play for money, it's a lot more awesome. Finally, it's the element that the video game world has long been missing.} No matter how much smack talk your buds lay down, you get to call their bluff - when betting real cash is on the line, now it's time for them to put up or shut up.} Given that there's a high level of "dude" going on here, you're probably dying to fight the top players at Xbox NHL 10.} Sure, you just want to hit up the video game console, throw on your skates, head to the rink and get in the game.} Who in hell wouldn't? Just remember that in order to emerge the victor, it will require more than just overconfidence.} Make sure you know what you're doing out there… make sure your trash talk doesn't exceed your abilities. Or, in simpler terms: know the game. Don't be the dumbass who goes off half-cocked, doesn't know what he's doing, and makes an ass of himself. That style of line may be acceptable for picking up girls at a drinking hole on a Saturday eve, although this is considerable material - we're chattering about playing sports video games for money.} So see to it that you only start up a game once you have all the strategies down pat. If you don't, and your rival does, well, there's nothing colder than being the one to lose the wager.

There's no reason not to exploit your Xbox NHL 10 proficiency into a big payoff, as soon as you're certain you can't be outplayed. Find out if there are any ready, willing and able competitors you can challenge to a game.} And if they are on the fence about taking each other on, a little hot air is confident to drive them out of control. If there's one thing about the hardcore gamers, they don't walk away from a challenge. But in the end, we're sure you'll talk some trash, play your match, and win some cash.

Xbox NHL 10 is, as to be expected, a monumental step forward in video hockey games. As truly incredible as the graphics to NHL 09 were, these are even more vivid and realistic. And the animation is even more fluid. NHL 10 gives hardcore gamers the best of both worlds - game play that's similar to NHL 09, along with some new upgrades that will surprise and excite even the most jaded player. The newest aspect that's going to be most revered by the hardcore video game player is the post-whistle action, which, as we're sure you can already guess, is another opportunity to lock horns, this time after the whistle has been blown. Or, more to the point, if you want to get some checks and cheap shots in, the post-whistle action is your chance - and it opens the door for a good old-fashioned battle. And then it is only a matter of time before your team members come stepping up to your defense and initiate flinging a couple shots of their own, thanks to the original plane of cleverness in gaming technology.} Since hockey and fights tend to go hand in hand, you won't be disappointed to learn that these fights really get down and dirty and out of control. For sure, adding to the video game cartridge supplementary verve is the Xbox NHL 10 soundtrack.} Sports video games just need the soundtrack in order to take things to the next level, and luckily, Xbox NHL 10 gives the hardcore gamers what they want. Here's what NHL 10 delivers:} "Young Cardinals" by Alexisonfire, "Deathsmarch" by Cancer Bats, "Hellions on Parade" by CKY, "Golden Years" by Disco Ensemble, "Heroes of Our Time" by Dragonforce, "Anything 'Cept the Truth" by Eagles of Death Metal, "Oye Vaya" by Earl Greyhound, "Know Your Enemy" by Green Day, "Peace Sells" by Megadeth, "Wake Up! Wake Up!" by MeTalkPretty, "Keys to the City" from Ministry & Co-Conspirators, "Kids in America" by MxPx, Nickelback's "Burn It to the Ground," Papa Roach's "Into the Light," "Raccoon Eyes" by Priestess, "The Bravest Kids" from Rancid, Scorpions' rock anthem "Rock You Like a Hurricane," and "Fire It Up" by Thousand Foot Krutch. Taking notice of the songs imparts an further element to the whole thing - you'll declare you're down on the ice, competing in the genuineListening to the music gives an added dimension to the whole experience - you'll swear you're down on the rink, taking part in the genuine article. And then just at the point you reckon NHL 10 is as credible as it can be, another trait, the intimidation tactics, develop it even more of the real thing than you may possibly yet picture.} Rough up your rival, get up in his grill, and soon enough, you'll rile the spectators. The audience does more than sit there staring blankly into space. They're an active part of the game - when something happens, they react.} The audience, like any real audience, gets into the game, applauds when their team scores, jeers when their team is losing - the only thing they don't do is buy overpriced souvenirs. So you have the chance to get the audience standing up and cheering for you - if you perform some amazing plays, of course.

There's something else you may want to consider, though maybe we're being kind of harsh here.} Check out at NHL 10, and then compare it to the rubbish your parents took part in a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the things they claimed were sports video games.} This was before the revolution that gave us 8-bit and then 16-bit games - 4K was as good as it got. You wanted to play sports video games in the dawn of the 80s, you played this - video game players had it rough back then:} No, your eyesight isn't faltering – sports video games not only once looked like this, they were considered quality.} All you had were four men on the non-scrolling rink. A player and his goalie. You certainly couldn't select your favorite team. Get this.} When this cartridge came out, it was regarded as a breakthrough sports video game, a favorite in the video game world.} Getting your game on way back when began and ended with this one.} Gamers thought they had it so good, because at least the players tried to resemble human beings, albeit in a barely recognizable form. If you really want to get blown away, compare the two games, yesterday's and today's, side by side, though it does seem a bit unfair in some ways:} The way we see it, your father or grandfather or great grandfather or whoever was playing this stuff was living in the video game Paleolithic era.} For that matter, the large advances forward that went on with 8-bit cartridges does not even advance to the stage of Xbox hockey game that is setting modern-day video game admirers fired up. If we haven't made our point, why not feast your eyes on this "classic": the big news this time was that you had six different teams to pick from. The video game world was certain that they'd reached the top with this hit

It almost hurts to look at that old stuff - you're better off cleansing your vision by taking another look at Xbox NHL 10, and realizing how good you've got it. Especially when you consider all of the elements not possible in the sports video games of yesteryear.} There was no Battle for the Cup, no Playoff Mode, no Season Mode, no Be a GM or Be a Tough Guy. And if you were hoping for online gaming in those days? Well, you'd have to wait a long time until your fantasies became a reality.} Not much you could do but be satisfied with your limited graphics and game play.

Sports video games go to new heights, though, with Xbox NHL 10. That's why nobody should be too shocked that the reviews are all highly enthusiastic, calling this game one of the best sports video games to ever be released.} And after seeing the game in action, you'll feel the same way - with the players' movement so realistic as they make their way around the ice, it's almost impossible to draw a distinction between a real hockey game and the video game. You gotta hand it to EA - they really nailed it with NHL 10, and set a new sports video game standard in the process.} Xbox NHL 10 deserves some type of home video gaming prize only for the finer points in the athletes' facial expressions - they put numerous of modern-day "A-List" thespians to dishonor, and certainly the "B-List" thespians to be found on your significant other's telenovelas. And let's not forget the fight scenes, and their incredible first-person perspective.} You'll believe you're going toe-to-toe in an actual fistfight - but without the busted bones.}

Gary Thorne and Bill Clement are on hand to deliver their usual, eerily accurate commentary, just like in NHL 09. Getting this duo is another selling point for NHL 10.} Consider the credentials of these two.} First there is "Clement, Clement, Hand of Cement," Bill Clement, respected NHL All-Star, and member of the ESPN family unit.} And Clement's cohort Gary Thorne, another one from the ESPN team, is a pretty impressive sports figure in his own right.} Hearing these guys call the game is a mindblowing experience.} Xbox NHL 10 is so lifelike that you will be assured that the pair is relaxing in your dwelling. Video game fans will be pleased with another one of Xbox NHL 10's new features, precision passing. Now, players can really take control of the speed of the puck, a feature absent in prior NHL games. And on top of that, you can, depending on your aim and strength of the slap shot, bank your passes off of the board.} Yet another innovation that's got the video game world abuzz - for the first time, Xbox NHL 10 lets gamers battle on the boards. You heard me - now, when you're in possession of the puck but are pinned up against the boards, you have the ability to stop your rival from nabbing the puck, by kick-passing it to a teammate. In contrast, if your challenger is being pinned to the boards by you, then you are able to actually put yourself in charge - assuming you are the most excellent player on the rink.}
